Change 4 Change is a program that takes the pocket change we might
otherwise throw into a jar on the top of our dresser, and puts it
to use bringing about positive change in the lives of the poor.
Many congregations are making Change 4 Change a part of their regular Sunday morning worship experience – as part of the church offering, anyone who has change in their pocket is invited to come up and deposit it in the special Change 4 Change jar. Everyone can participate – from the youngest toddler to the oldest senior (often those who are less agile will offer their coins to an enthusiastic youngster to deposit for them). Its a noisy, joyful celebration of generosity and giving!
Our pocket change adds up quickly! In the first year, with just a handful of congregations participating, the Change 4 Change program raised more than $3,000. That's enough to buy schoolbooks for 300 children for a year, or to buy a goat that would give fresh milk for 40 families, or to buy a grain silo that would protect the harvest from rats and mice for 15 families.
These are life-changing possibilities – made possible by simply sharing the change we find in our pockets.
