Eating Ice Cream For the Cause!
Wednesday evening at the Healing and Freeing of the Spirit Reunion, organizers planned an "Ice Cream Social" to help raise funds for World Accord. One young man (about 6 or 7 years) put his own looney in the bucket for his ice cream and when he went up for seconds, he placed another looney in. When his grandmother reminded him there was also 'canteen' after campfire and explained she had already made a donation, he said he didn't care "because this ice cream helps poor people". How touching!
All told, $1,247 was raised to help World Accord's program partners in developing nations! The ice cream social was the brain child of reunion director Anna Jean Bradley.
Thank you Anna Jean and everyone who helped with the event(serving, eating and doing cleanup). It was a great way to help some extremely poor people.
In the Spirit of Generosity
World Accord has recently received a donation from supporters who have decided that the proceeds from every 10th contract of their personal business will go to help out a charity. They have completed their first 10 contracts and decided World Accord would be the recipient of some of those funds. Thank you to these and all of our generous supporters!!
Cambridge Congregation Engages Community to Support CORDI

The Community of Christ Cambridge congregation had a garage sale in support of the CORDI Women's Shelter in Chennai India. The put up flyers and handed out cards to everyone who came so they would understand what CORDI does for the women in India. More than $721 was raised for CORDI through crafts, baked good, garage sale items and a BBQ. Shown is Todd Ashwell cooking up some burgers for Derek Finnemore and Jim Freer.
Thank you Cambridge!!
Loaves and Fishes Reunion Serves Pancakes for World Accord
July 13, 2006
Last week at the Loaves and fishes Reunion at Ziontario, the Mahoney sisters cooked up a huge batch of pancakes and sausages. The sumptuous breakfast was then served by the bishop of Canada – Jim Poirier – and the guest minister for the week – Mike Hoffman. The breakfast was well attended considering the early start time. There was a free will offering for the breakfast which raised a total of $1,187 for the development projects or World Accord. Awesome!
David Barth and Sandy Heathers of World Accord gave their thanks to the cooks and servers that night as they delivered a presentation on World Accord’s current activities to an attentive crowd.
Thanks again to all those who cooked, served, consumed and contributed to the benefit of those less fortunate people in the developing world.
