Got Summer Work?
World Accord has received approval for funding from the Canadian Government for a "Development Education Intern" for the summer of 2006. We have a 10 week internship position available. To qualify, government regulations require that the student must be eligible to work in Canada, has just completed a year as a full time student and must be planning to return as a full time student in the fall of 2006. They must be between the ages of 16 and 30 inclusive.
World Accord's requirements: They will begin with 2-4 weeks of preparation work in the offices here in Waterloo. This will include some research about World Accord, followed by creation of posters and power point presentations to use while speaking as a representative of World Accord at youth camps, reunions etc. across Canada. They must also be willing to help the directors of each camp in whatever other capacity is needed (eg campfire or teaching a class etc) This will require registration as a "Registered Youth Worker" with Community of Christ.
All interested applicants should send their resume and cover letter to Sandy Heathers at
sheathers@worldaccord.org as soon as possible so we can begin the interview process. Resumes should be received no later than June 5, 2006. Anticipated employment start date is by mid June at the latest.
Painting for Peace and Prosperity

By putting his painting skills to work in support of World Accord, this painter is really contributing to peace and prosperity. Jack Ridgers, a very talented painter from Sarnia (Ontario), has completed several incredible paintings of scenes from the developing world, which he has donated to World Accord. Jack has been painting for years but decided about a year ago that he wanted to use his talents to help World Accord.
In total he has completed seven paintings. One was given as a gift to Grant McMurray in thanks for his dedication to World Accord as a board member as well as for additional support given to staff and the organization. Three others have been auctioned off thus far, and the remaining paintings will be auctioned off at various fund raisers over the next year or so.
Thank you Jack for the great example of a "disciple's generous response".
